The Entire Picture of Hideki Nakazawa: Paintings in Symbols and Colors

This is in fact Nakazawa Hideki's first solo show in Tokyo in six years. His "entire picture" ranges from acrylic paintings (from 1983-89) via "silly computer graphics" (1990-96) to method paintings (1997-2005) and serious paintings (2006-), whereas the fact that the art polemist's "consistent" philosophy of painting is illustrated here through artworks and not through letters makes this exhibition particularly worth checking out. Personally I'm looking most forward to the exquisite method paintings, including the "Letter-Coordinates-Type Painting" in which colors are replaced by letters, and the"Stone-Arrangement Painting on the Board", which is basically - you guess it - stones arranged in patterns on a board. When I encountered Nakazawa's art for the first time my brain was literally buzzing. What I didn't know: he is actually drawing most of his paintings with brain waves!
