Cao Fei: I.MIRROR by China Tracy

The artist who keeps attracting attention with video pieces set in urban spaces presents a work she showed at the last Venice Biennale. "i.Mirror" is a documentary that captures visually the experiences of her Second Life (SL) avatar "China Tracy" as a mirror of Real Life (RL), and while referring to the real world, it is a brilliant portrait of individuals enjoying their virtual environments. Watching the three elaborately composed parts, the viewer becomes aware of a variety of relationships between both, SL and RL. The event is coordinated by MIACA, one of the few video archives in Japan, and takes place concurrently with a festival involving 25 groups and organizations based in the ZAIM complex where the video is on display.
March 13, 2008MIACA Japan proudly presents Cao Fei, i.MIRROR exhibition. i.MIRROR (2007, 28min) was a documentary moving image by China Tracy, the avatar of one of China's most prospective artists, Cao Fei. The film was made in the Second Life (Linden Lab), a virtual world on internet. The piece was made for the 52nd Venice Biennial last year co-operation with Linden lab.
This is a first show of i.MIRROR in Japan.
