Akasaka Art Flower 08

Event Details

TBS has been witnessing the change and prosperity of "Akasaka", and followed by the successful opening of "akasaka Sacas" as an entertainment complex in March 2008, we continue to challenge ourselves with new ideas on what we can do to fully utilize the new"Akasaka" area and how to contribute back to our home base town. And today, we are happy to share with you that we have come to one great idea to host "Akasaka Art Flower 08," With the collaboration of a broadcasting station and contemporary art, our intention is to help people be fascinated by the charm of art and to re-realize the hidden potential of "Akasaka". This has now become the theme of this event and we believe that "Akasaka Art Flower 08" will help "Akasaka" to be recognized as the new cultural centre of Tokyo. We also believe that "Akasaka Art Flower 08" will be a great opportunity for us to once again think and to question how the broadcasting station should co-exist with the town and art.

TBS

"Art" has the power to visualize things, make things more apparent and make us realize. Having art works all over Akasaka makes it possible for us to realize and see the "world" and its beauty, which we were never aware of before. To maximize such power of art, we have collected the great pieces of work from the 18 pairs of artists who have been working both in and out of Japan. There is so much potential in the relationship between society and art - more dynamic, more enduring relationship."Art Flower" has been named after our idea and challenge of how various kinds of "flowers" are born out of these various relationships between "art" and "society." As we continue to challenge, these "flowers" will make our lives more fruitful ones.
