Yellow Kid

Tamura, an aspiring young boxer, lives with his demented grandmother. One day, manga artist Hattori visits Tamura's gym, planning to use Tamura as a model for the hero in his new manga "Yellow Kid". What follows is a strange story in which the real and manga world gradually mix. Mariko Tetsuya, who has built a reputation for himself with short and mid-length movies at such occasions as the Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival, shot his first feature film -- at once his final work as a student at the Graduate School of Film and New Media, Tokyo University of the Arts -- within ten days, and with the frighteningly low budget of two million yen. The movie is packed with impressive scenes, so I recommend you don't get up from your seat until the credits have faded out completely.
