BOOKER T.

The old master on the Southern soul organ returns to Japan for a set of jazz club shows. Born 1944 in the South American music mecca of Memphis, Booker T. Jones began to play a variety of instruments at a very early age. He soon went to play in churches, before making his big breakthrough leading the famed Stax Records label's in-house band Booker T. & The MGs in the 1960s. The countless vocalists he supported and performed with even include the likes of Imawano Kiyoshiro. His first solo album (together with Neil Young on guitar) in twenty years was released in 2009, and in the same year he made another appearance at the Fuji Rock Festival. At these live shows featuring a bunch of highly trained musicians (two guitarists, a bassist and a drummer), he will serve an explosive mixture of rock and soul, brewed together in the course of his 55-year-long life dedicated to music.
