Carpentier Underground Prize
Kikuchi Naruyoshi and Pepe Tormento Azucarar
The strange title of this first live performance in 2010 by Kikuchi Naruyoshi and his band Pepe Tormento Azucarar is (reportedly) borrowed from Cuban author Alejo Carpentier y Valmont. This time the band that celebrates its fifth anniversary this year features a bandoneon player and string quartet in addition to the usual jazz combo, making up an 11-piece orchestra with a truly unique lineup. Special guest, soprano singer Hayashi Masako will add some flavor to the magical dance beat that is surely going to set the stage on fire. Also on the bill are electronica outfit World's End Girlfriend, known from their music for the movie "Kuuki ningyo", who this time perform in band format. Lots of fun promise also Hinata Sayaka and Kikuchi himself in the DJ booth.
