FURUSATO

The JAXA Earth Observing Satellite "Daichi" is traveling around the Earth in a Sun-synchronous orbit at a height of approximately 700 kilometres, from where it monitors more or less every nook and cranny of the planet's surface. The high-definition data it sends down to us are being used for mapping, disaster observation, resource exploration and various other purposes. Under the supervision of Koyama Kundo, this scientific high-tech observation was charged with emotion, and is now presented in the form of a highly realistic movie that shows how Daichi looks down upon Machu Picchu, Grand Canyon, Ayers Rock, Great Barrier Reef and others like the "eye of god". An additional "expedition" to pyramids, the Hiroshima Peace Memorial and Itsukushima Shrine via 3D live-action footage add to the short but compelling program's goosebumps quality.
